My goal is to watch 50 new movies this year. I like re-watching movies, so I’m trying to force myself to watch some current movies. So I’ve decided to start a series to motivate my self each month.
I will collect a list of 7 current (fairly current, at least) movies. They may not be current in the rest of the world, but I will focus on what is current in Denmark. By the end of each month I must have watched at least 3 of the movies on the list.
So here is the list for February.
The idea is to come up with 101 goals to be completed in 1001 days (2.75 days).
I wanted my goals to be “measurable”, so nothing like “be better at this and that”. Most of the goals on my list are like mini challenges, so in order to not get overwhelmed I’m going to pick a few each month to work on.
My deadline is October 14th 2016.
See my complete list here.
Until the end of February I will work on the following goals:
#2 Read 1 book
#6 Contact book
#8 Get photos in albums
#16 Visit one museum
#52 Make 2 cookbook recipes
#53 Make 2 pinterest recipes
#68 Try 1 new food
#77 Do 1 random act of kindness
#87 Add 20 things to the list of 500 things I’m grateful for
#95 Cleaning routine
#99 Make a budget
I’m one of those persons that always appear prepared for pretty much everything. I never show up late, my calendar is always updated and I pay close attention to detail.
But, lately I’ve found that I’ve become much more of a scatterbrain and I hate that (I don’t hate everyone who is scatterbrained, it’s just not how I see my self).
I’ve spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out what is different, and I think I come to a conclusion. In the past few months I haven’t used my calendar as much and I’ve also stopped putting Important documents into their folders, so I need to go back to doing that. I wasn’t completely satisfied with neither my calendar nor my filing system before so I think this is a good excuse to revisit both and try to find something that suits me better.
I will post my progress as the projects move along.
I posted my evening routine a month ago and I thought that you guys would like the hear about my morning routine.
As I mentioned when I posted my evening routine, I don’t follow this every day, but when it happens I feel so much more relaxed, and ideal morning.
- Get up first time the alarm clock rings
- Open the door for the balcony
- Turn on the radio
- Pee (we all have to do it)
- Brush teeth
- (If I take a bath, this is the time to do it, but usually I do it at night)
- Brush hair
- Drink one large glass of water
- Put on water for tea
- Prepare breakfast
- Make the bed
- Turn on the computer
- Eat breakfast and read the news
- Check email
- Turn of computer
- Do the dishes
- Find clothes
- Brush teeth again
- Get dressed
- Make sure that the bag is packed
I’m currently single, with no children, and I don’t have a lot going on. But I’ve been thinking about what would be interesting to look back at in 10 or 20 years, and I thought that now I have the time to document what life is like in Denmark in 2014. I can document what’s on tv, what foods are in, what cars look like, and so on, all the things I probably won’t have time to document later on in my life.
I’m changing things up this year, so I will try a 6×8 format. I somehow find this format easier to handle, and it requires less space. I didn’t have a hard time filling in the pockets in 2013 but I couldn’t really get the look I wanted. I’m a very visual person in all aspects of life, so while it might not be important to everybody, I prefer my PL to be aesthetically pleasing (at least to some extent).
I’m not set on doing one or two pages per week, I’ll just fill in the pages as I go. I usually have more photos from the weekend than workdays, and the amount of photos is really dependent on what’s going on in my life.Photos:
One of my goals this year is to use my DSLR more, so I’ll try to include less iPhone photos in my PL this year.
For the beginning of the year, I’m going back to printing my photos at home. It’s just more convenient, and it allows me to sit down whenever I feel like it and fill in my pockets.
This year my focus will be on journaling and photos. I’ll include memorabilia as well but not as much as I did last year, I’ll try to focus on the stories.
It’s a new year, I’ve already created my first scrapbook page, it’s titled: “It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life” (and the natural continuation: “and I’m feeling good“). I would like to make the first blog post of the year a tribute to 2013. My word of the year might be forward, but part of my resolutions is to learn from the past, so let’s take a look back at all the wonderful things that happened in 2013.
I would like to thank you for all that you brought and all that you thought me. I had my heart-broken, but it reminded me that I cannot control everything. It also proved who would be there for me no matter how stupid I act, and for that I am truly grateful.
All the travel that was done made up for 2012 which brought no travel at all. I went back to Jordan, wonderful, warm Jordan. For the first time in my life I set foot in East Asia. 16 days in China, drove me slightly crazy, so many people in so little space. Upon return I swore I wouldn’t return to Beijing, but maybe to Shanghai, but as I look back on our time there I would like to go back at a different time of the year.
2013 was a year of amazing music. Beyoncé was my favourite. Two music festivals with wonderful ladies.
So that’s all, thank you for being so wonderful 2013.
So at the beginning of my Filofax I have a list of goals I want to reach in the new year. I keep the list here in order to stay focused.
The goals are pretty much the same as in my 2014 Plan post.
- Finish 12 projects
- Preserve 12 different foods
- Watch 50 new movies
- Bike 3000 km
- Walk 750 km
- 52 new things (not including movies)
- Bake 12 new cakes
Apart from this list of goals I also have a little “pep talk” in the front. It’s focused around one word “forward” which, so far, is my word of the year, I’m not sure it’s going to stick for the entire year, but for now it seems appropriate, I might explain why I chose that word in another blog post.
I’m not going to share the exact wording with you (it’s in Danish and it would probably take me quite a while to translate it, to give off the same meaning), but it’s basically a reminder to let go, to take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities and challenges I’m going to meet in 2014.
I’ve been trying to challenge myself lately, so I wanted to try using a sketch. I looked at a few from SC and finally decided on this one. It’s fairly simple and very much “my style”. It didn’t turn out perfect, and I think it would have worked better if I had used smaller elements, both the photo and mat, as well as the embellishments and the title, but I think it turned out decent.
Next time I’m going to try a sketch that is a lot different from what I usually do and see how that turns out.
I know a lot of people don’t like bulk, but to be honest I love the dimension, I mean seven layers of cardstock, paperclips and badges, add a lot of bulk, but I wouldn’t be able to acheive the same effect with flat embellishments. Another reason why I don’t mind is that scrapbooking isn’t my main memorykeeping. I keep an “ordinary” album of all my photos, so scrapbooking and project life works more as an artistic outlet.
So tonight I am going to share my evening routine, of course I don’t do this every night, some days just don’t have enough hours.
Ideally I like to start this two hours before bed, although this usually only happens on days where I’m off work, as I don’t get home from work until 9 pm.
- Turn off the TV – I live in a studio apartment so it can be hard to separate night from evening.
- When I have school the next day, I like to prepare my lunch.
- Make sure all the dishes are done.
- Brush my hair and braid it
- Change clothes
- Remove makeup
- Brush my teeth
- Skin care
- Make some tea
- Drink a large glass of water
- Make the to-do list for next day
- Make sure that my Filo matches my google calendar
- Read for about 45 min.
- Wash the teapot
- Brush my teeth the last time
- Check email one last time
- Set the alarm
- Charge phone
